COVID 19 Vaccinations Efforts In Africa, The WHO Stands
On Monday being 1st of Match 2021, I was given the first question at the World Health Organization virtual press briefing in Geneva, Switzerland
And I asked health experts in the world to update us on vaccination efforts in Africa, including in northern Ethiopia’s Tigray region, where a Biden administration report says Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed Ali, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2019, is leading an ethnic cleansing there.
And that of Africa Nigeria that becomes the third country in Africa To Receive First Doses Of COVID-19 Vaccine Under COVAX Initiative

The President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo joined the virtual meeting on a zoom call in few minutes late to give feedback on the first doses of COVID-19 vaccine under COVAX administered in Africa for the first time yesterday, and it seems it all went well.
Right now, five countries in Africa have received doses of the vaccine namely: Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, DRC, and Angola.
Other countries in Africa are expecting theirs as vaccination exercises are expected to go around Africa in the coming weeks or months
COVAX intends to deliver doses to all countries within the first hundred days of this year.
That leaves us with only 39 days. Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa received 3.9 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine today.
Africa has between 54 and 55 countries, depending on whether you are at the United Nations in New York or the African Union in Addis Ababa.
Both disagree on the status of Western Sahara. Morocco claims it owns Western Sahara, Nigeria and other big countries in Africa disagree.
Anyway, with 5 countries receiving the vaccine so far, there are about 50 countries left to receive the first doses of the vaccine in the next 39 days.
I asked the WHO Director-General Tedros whether he would meet that goal, the answer was that it would depend on many things, including the Africa Leaders, corruption, ill politics, religion, tribalism, and many others.
This is not limited to, but including manufacturing capacity, hunger virus said to have killed more Africans when compared to COVID and pandemic.
But in all, it’s all went well as more Africa Nationals kick start Vaccination shot in weeks or months to come
