We live in a time where most things are done digitally. The thing about this digital era is that aside from that it makes things easy, fun, and interesting
It has created more jobs within the world around us, millions of people today are employed via the internet technology, millions including the majority of us here at NL SOFT, Owner’s of AfriNOTES, all thanks to the innovative technology called the Internet
The Internet has brought a great number of people together and also that seems far nearer. For instance, before the advent of social media
Other people from other countries are seen as faraway people who could not be reached or communicated with easily. The universe was separated; everyone was on their own, you can only communicate with the immediate people in your vicinity and that was all there is.
But today, the world is a global village where we can reach people in any part of the world and from any part of the world with relative ease since the introduction of social media and the likes. So tell me, isn’t it the best time to be alive? You know the answer.

So, let me spare you the pain of having to read all the dilly-dally, and let’s dive right into the topic of discussion; how to use LinkedIn to your advantage.
Tips 1: Update Your Profile:
LinkedIn is not your regular social media for fun and all that; there is Facebook or Twitter and the rest of them keep you entertained when you’re bored.
LinkedIn has a bit of a professional setting it is a professional setting as both employer and job searchers are present there, it is just left for you as a job searcher to know where and how to find your prospective employer.
But first, you need to update your profile, it should be up to date with even your most recent experience, this way, prospective employers tend to be interested in you and you’d gain a lot of views, you can never tell who is viewing, the more reason why you should make sure your profile is well updated. And too, you should put up a professional picture of yourself.
Employers or prospective clients tend to take you seriously too when they can see a picture of you. You are 14 times likely to get a page view when you have a picture on your profile. Update Your Skills:
It is not a good thing if your LinkedIn page always looks as though you have not been there in a while because prospective clients may have to look somewhere else for someone they deem ‘ready’.
If you’ve gained any experience or have acquired any skill, no matter how recent, you should put it up on your profile;
This will boost your chances of getting a job on the specified skills. The overall idea is to keep up with current skills and see where you can come in.
Make sure you are abreast with the most sought-after skills and see that you learn them too, to be able to compete and stand a chance of a job.
Tips 2: Update Your Headline:
When people search LinkedIn, the only things they see are your name, photo, and headline.
So you might want to pay attention to your headline and make sure it’s distinct and tells exactly what you do in a very clear manner and not just in a random tone. For instance a sharp headline such as
“Project Manager Delivering Only the Best Quality” or “Supplier of Farm Products with 30% Discount”; just something more attention-grabbing, rather than a regular headline like “Quantity Surveyor in the Private Sector”.
The latter sounds sleepy and regular, it does not point out what you do distinctly. So pay attention to the way you write your headline, it is the key factor to landing you a job.
Tips 3: Be Available:
If you could be available to post that you are looking for a job, you should be available to follow up and make them know that you are ready for the job. You could use your headline to make such an announcement.
For example “Copywriter ready to write a copy that will yield 1000% returns” or something.
This way, employers see your readiness and are more likely to send you a message, compared to someone who has a plain, just-there kind of headline, or someone who has not visited his page in a while.
You should check your page and your feeds daily to see any new developments and keep up with the happenings.
Tips 4: Join a Group about your Field:
What this means is that you should search and join groups that share the same interest as you.
You can easily stay up to date and be quick to receive information on any new thing, and in addition, chances are that prospective employers are in the same group with you, and it is only a matter of time before you meet them, if you are consistent.
Follow Companies you would like to Work for: Searching and following companies that you’d like to work for is another sure way to land your client in no time.
When you are a member of a group of companies you’d like to work for, you are prone to first-hand information and latest development about the company, and you are sure to know when there is a vacancy in their organization because it would be announced on their page.
Tips 5: Be a Regular Visitor:
For you to stand a chance to get your first job and subsequent ones, you would have to be active on the platform. You should post articles, videos, or any post you make on other platforms there as updates.
Your page should be bubbly with recent posts, by doing this; you give your prospective employers the impression that you are available.
You should also post current things around the globe. Connect with friends and engage them professionally. The more you make comments on people’s posts and the more you make posts on your page, the more you’d get recognized.
Be friendly, but remember to reduce the playfulness, as this platform is more professional than too much fun, also be more original and keep to your professional ethics while using LinkedIn
In all, just be positive-minded and feed your mind with the latest and current happenings around the globe and engage your followers on LinkedIn too, with this energy; you are going to land your next job, get project or service live from LinkedIn
