Gridlock In Afghanistan As Citizens Attempt To Leave The Country. There have been miles of gridlock in Afghanistan’s capital city of Kabul as thousands of Afghan citizens try to leave the country in fear of Taliban take over while the country’s President, Ashraf Ghani had also fled the country days ago.
The Taliban has declared the country, ‘Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan’ on Sunday 15th August 2021, this came shortly after taking over the Afghanistan presidential palace.
A senior Afghan interior minister has said to Reuters news agency and other global media that Taliban fighters were reaching the capital “from all sides”.
While the Taliban spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid said,
The development is a sad one while more terror groups across the world are celebrating the take over of Afghanistan by Taliban fighters
The terror fighters are now on standby on all entrances of Kabul until ever since they take over of the country in what seems to be a peaceful and satisfactory transfer of power.”
The Taliban was formed in 1994 and it comprises of resistance fighters known as Mujahedeen and they aim at imposing their interpretation of Islamic law on the country and also, they oppose foreign interest.
