Marburg virus is a highly infectious disease that causes hemorrhagic fever, has been identified in the country, and West Africa.
Marburg virus, which is in the same family as the virus that causes Ebola, was detected less than two months after Guinea declared an end to an Ebola outbreak that erupted earlier this year.
This came when samples were taken from a now-deceased patient, which tested positive, more samples have also been taken and tested by a field laboratory in Gueckedou as well as Guinea’s national hemorrhagic fever laboratory which also turned out positive for the Marburg virus
The health sectors are on this gathering more information, taking samples, testing samples, putting up data, and further analysis by the Institut Pasteur in Senegal confirmed the result
The patient had sought treatment at a local clinic in the Koudou area of Gueckedou, where a medical investigation team had been dispatched to probe his worsening symptoms.
Gueckedou, where the Marburg virus has been confirmed, is also the same region where cases of the 2021 Ebola outbreak in Guinea as well as 2014–2016 are still in West Africa
The outbreak was initially detected, more studies about the virus are taking place right now and in a few days from now, WHO and every other bodies concern will be updating the global world with information on the danger and safety practice of the virus
The WHO has also laid out public health measures in place and what all of us should do to prevent another global health emergency, in a time when the global world are still yet to fully recover from the Global pandemic of 2019
