A South African Pastor, Wife, and Cousin All Found Guilty Over The Murder Of A Woman for multi-million South Africa Rand Insurance deal
On Thursday, September 2, 2021. The Circuit High Court, sitting in George, the Southern Cape, found a pastor, his wife, and his cousin guilty for the murder of a 25-year-old mother of two, Hlompo Mohapifor, over a multi-million rand insurance payout.
The suspects, Melisizwe Monqo, Siphosihle Pamba, and Phumlani Qhusheka, now faced 29 charges against them, including murder, conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, fraud, robbery with aggravating circumstances, kidnapping, defeating, or obstructing the course of justice, and housebreaking.
The suspects had pretended that they will secure a job for the victim at the local airport and had taken her blood samples which they claimed were for a test while it was used to get life insurance of about R3 million.
On July 5, 2018, the victim, Hlompo was found dead with her throat slit and stab wounds to the chest near Herolds Bay after she was tricked by the trio over claims of a job interview
After her death, R3 million insurance and another worth R200 000, as well as a funeral policy worth R50 000, were claimed on her life.
After the court session on Thursday, Patricia Koloi, the victim’s mother said:
“It’s a long journey but today I’m happy. I’m excited because I have the whole of George supporting me, feeling the pain I felt. I’m just so very happy.”
