JUST IN: Stop bribing police and FRSC officers, PACAC to Nigerians. This development came during a one-day virtual dialogue on, “Effective and sustainable strategies for curbing retail corruption” organized by the Presidential Advisory Committee against Corruption (PACAC)
The Nigeria police force and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), both in charge of law enforcement has urged the general public West Africa Nigeria not to offer a bribe to officers
In their words, stop offering bribes to all officers nationwide, DON’T TEMEP US WITH BRIBE, Presidential Advisory Committee against Corruption (PACAC) says, also encouraged the general public to report any officer who accepts a bribe to the X-Squad, the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit, and the Police Complaint Response Unit (PCRU)
Speaking during the event, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Olaolu Adegbite, of the Force Intelligence Bureau said
The X-Squad monitors unethical conduct. Citizens can approach the squad with information. The IG Monitoring Unit also conducts sting operations and arrests officers in the field and makes recoveries.
Citizens must provide support through evidence. Citizens should stop the act of offering bribes and gratification, which is a crime under the Criminal Code.”
Also speaking during the event, senior FRSC official, Ntukidem Godwin, asked citizens not to commit traffic offenses and offer bribes in other to escape punishment.
