The Benefits of masturbation and its side effects. As the wise saying says, there are literary plus and cons to everything, so it’s with masturbations and that we are about to reveal to you right in this article
The topics such as masturbation are one many persons would rather not talk about, either because they are guilty if that is the right word to use, or because of the supposed shame attached to it, religion, culture, and some other facts that may make one not to talk about the world Masturbation
But like every sensitive topic, it’s better to talk about it and gain more proper knowledge about it, even though the society we live in today tend to condemn and crucify people who choose to talk about it, not to talk more or indulge in it, but we should talk about it anyways
What is masturbation?
According to Medical News Today: Masturbation is when an individual stimulates their sexual organs for pleasure, which may, or may not lead to orgasm.
Masturbation is a common thing among male folks even though both genders engage in it. It is mostly identified with the male folks; so much attention is not paid to the female folks who do it as well.
Most masturbators started from their teenage years, probably with clear intentions of avoiding a bigger sin (That is if masturbation was already a sin).
During puberty, the boy child experiences some discharge in his sleep, this is known as night emission or ‘wet dreams’. It involves the discharge of semen from the genitals while sleeping.
This semen is triggered by the changes going on in the body during puberty and is usually aided out by my dreams that involve having sexual intercourse
This happening is not the doing of the individual and he has no control whatsoever over it, in Africa most religions miss interpreting these scenarios to a spiritual attacker, while it has nothing to do with spiritualism
But it could be safe to say that it is at this point that the boy child becomes aware of his body and form the habit of masturbation. Some people have shifted the finger-pointing to introverts.
They insinuated that people who are always alone could be chronic masturbators. While this may be true, it is not limited to only a section of personality.
Other things that may trigger masturbation are pornography, absence of the opposite sex, sexually provoking pictures or materials, etc.
Society has come to frown at it, condemning it and whoever is guilty of it, it is almost like an offense, but without any concrete punishment.
Because of this heavy condemnation from society, the most person who masturbate do it in private and would never risk getting caught, lest they are termed unholy and called all sorts of names, the shame that lies therein might last for a lifetime
In as much as we want to look away and pretend or shy away from this topic of discussion, it stares at us in the face, and until we address it and talk about it, we might never know some things about it and forever be ignorant.
The reasons why this act frowns will be discussed below:
>>> Religious Reasons:
Many persons believe that masturbation is against their religion so they abstain from it and condemn whoever indulges in self sexual pleasure.
Our society sees people who masturbate as irresponsible and would not want to have anything to do with them.
Society tends to see a masturbator as a loser who would never get anything right or as someone without value.
They are seen as people who cannot express themselves sexually to their opposite sex, and this, in a way, could be a source of depression to an individual who is only his anatomy, it makes them begin to believe that they are truly losers.
Africans narrowed down to Nigerians, are very religious people, and would not hesitate to kick against anything they perceive as a sin. Even though it is was not distinctly pointed out in any holy book. It is seen as a sin among the various religions practiced in Nigeria.
However, health experts have argued that masturbation is a healthy activity and should not be seen as a thing of shame or filth because it has more benefits than side effects. Some of these benefits are:
And many more not listed above, though Masturbation, according to health experts, is healthy, chronic masturbation may have some side effects;
>>> Sore Genitals: If masturbation is done all the time, it could cause the individual a sore genital; they might want to take a break for a while.
>>> Insensitivity in sex: If the male folks masturbate with a tight grip on their genitals, chances are that they will not feel such heightened pleasure with the opposite sex because their own is probably the tightest the sensation they’d ever have.
>>> Interference in Daily Life: Chronic masturbation could begin to interfere in one’s daily life. This is because you could become really tired when excess semen is being released from your body.
This could cause you to become inactive in events that matter to you, like a relative’s wedding or friends’ hangout, and before long, you begin to lose interesting relationships and touch of your reality and you tend to become more on your own.
>>> Guilty Feeling: This act comes with a guilty feeling, even when it is done secretly. This guilt feeling could be a result of going against religious beliefs or against societal standards and feeling shame for having fall beyond expectations.
For many, it is the guilty feeling that eats them up the most and not the side effects of masturbation. Most of them are hard on themselves
Thinking that they are falling deeper into a pit that they may never be able to help themselves out.
It is this feeling that further pushes them into believing that they are in it alone and that they’d never be good at anything.
Like experts said above, masturbation is healthy if it is done minimally but the same cannot be said for chronic masturbation.
When masturbation becomes a habit, it begins to drain the individual involved, and only then would it be a problem. So an excess of it should be checked for healthy living.
